At Davisville Church, our mission is to Influence People to Fully Follow Jesus.
We believe that following Jesus means embracing God’s word and living according to his teachings. Empowered by him, we can make a difference in our families, neighborhoods, and the world. In other words, we believe following Jesus is the best path we can take—it's what we were created for!
We desire to follow Jesus in such a way that we encourage those around us to experience a relationship with him personally and to follow him passionately.
We strive to be a welcoming community where people from all backgrounds of life can come together to explore faith and discover what it means to fully follow Jesus.
We hope that you will join us in the journey!
As followers of Jesus, we believe God has called us to move away from our natural inclinations and to embrace His values.
Community
We seek to move from individualism to community—choosing to live connected with others rather than in isolation.
Generosity
We seek to move from materialism to generosity— focusing on how we can give rather than what we can get/acquire.
Maturity
We seek to move from consumerism to maturity— prioritizing God’s purposes over our own desires and others over ourselves.
We seek to live out these values through pursuing five key practices:
God desires for his followers to regularly gather for worship as a visible expression of his family. Gathering together with our spiritual brothers and sisters reminds us of our identity in Christ and our mission in this world.
Acts 2:42,46 | Hebrews 10:23-25
God designed us for relationship. By intentionally sharing our lives with others, we encourage, challenge and protect each other as we pursue Jesus together.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 | Colossians 3:12-17
Jesus said that he came to serve rather than be served. By humbly serving others we reenact how Jesus lived and reflect him to the world. When we discover how God has made us and serve accordingly, we experience the joy he intends as we put others before ourselves.
Matthew 20:28 | Galatians 5:13 | Philippians 2:3-5
God calls us to participate in his mission with all that he has given us, which includes our time, talents and treasure. Giving financially is one of the ways we help others and express our worship to him.
2 Corinthians 8:7 | 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 | 1 Timothy 6:17-19 | Matthew 25:14-28
God desires each of us to become more like Jesus in our attitudes and actions. We grow first by learning about who God is and who we are from his word. As we put that knowledge into practice we experience transformation in our relationships with him and each other.
Ephesians 4:11-16 | Ephesians 5:1-2 | 2 Peter 3:18
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us; revealing his presence in the world and our lives. It is completely true and sufficient as a source of guidance.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect God-man promised by God who came to make a way for humanity to be rescued from the effects of sin and to restore all things to Him.
We believe that every person is made in the image of God for the purpose of bringing Him glory, and is therefore inherently valuable and due respect and honor.
We believe that every person is separated from God and in need of rescue due to the destructive, ruinous nature of sin.
We believe the only way for a person to be connected with God and experience the abundance of life He offers is through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ begins when a person admits their guilt, believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and chooses to trust Christ alone as their rescuer.
We believe that the Church is made of all who trust in Christ for salvation through faith and are called to love each other, encourage one another in following Jesus and be a witness to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus so others would believe.
We believe that Jesus is right now preparing a place for those who are His. He will return to take His Church to be with him forever and make all things right, even in judgment.
